Frederick County, Maryland – In a commendable display of heroism and professionalism, two deputies from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) were awarded the EMS Excellence Award by Frederick County Fire & Rescue for their lifesaving actions during a critical cardiac arrest response. This recognition highlights not only the deputies’ quick thinking and decisive actions but also the importance of teamwork in emergency medical situations.
The event took place in November 2025, when FCSO deputies were dispatched to a cardiac arrest incident. Upon arriving at the scene, Deputies Sgt. Smith and Deputy Reynolds swiftly initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before the Fire and Rescue personnel could arrive. Their immediate response played a crucial role in stabilizing the patient’s condition, showcasing the vital training and preparedness of the FCSO deputies.
Working in tandem with Fire and Rescue teams and an Emergency Communications Specialist, the deputies provided a seamless continuum of care that included advanced resuscitation efforts and essential post-resuscitation care. Thanks to their collaborative efforts, the patient not only survived the life-threatening event but also made a full recovery, returning home neurologically intact-a testament to the effective emergency response protocols in place within Frederick County.
Local officials and community members expressed their pride in the deputies’ extraordinary actions. “Congratulations to Sgt.
