Planned Power Outage and Court Street Garage Closure for September 19, 2024 – Frederick Pulse

The City of Frederick will experience a planned power outage on Thursday, September 19, 2024, as Potomac Edison conducts upgrades to the underground electrical system near the Court Street Parking Garage.

The outage is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will affect the Court Street Parking Garage, the Patrick Center, and Creekside Plaza.

Impact on Parking:

To ensure public safety, the Court Street Parking Garage will be closed for the duration of the power outage, with a tentative restoration time of 5:00 p.m. While one exit gate will remain operational, no entrance gates will be open during this time. Vehicles already inside the garage may remain parked, but those removed will not be able to reenter until power is restored.

As part of an emergency response, the City’s Parking Department will allow Court Street Parking Garage cardholders to use their cards at the West Patrick Street and Carroll Creek garages during the outage.

Traffic and Safety Measures:

The Department of Public Works (DPW) will closely monitor any traffic signal disruptions caused by the outage. Motorists are reminded to treat non-operational traffic lights as 4-way stop signs—come to a full stop and yield as necessary.

The City of Frederick appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation during this important infrastructure upgrade. Stay informed by following our official social media channels or visiting the City of Frederick website for updates.
