Frederick County, MD – In a commendable display of bravery and quick thinking, two deputies from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) were recently awarded the EMS Excellence Award by Frederick County Fire & Rescue for their lifesaving efforts during a cardiac arrest incident in November 2025. When FCSO deputies, Sgt. Smith and Deputy Reynolds, arrived at the scene of the emergency, they immediately initiated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before the Fire and Rescue team could arrive. Upon the arrival of additional emergency personnel, the team collaborated effectively to deliver advanced resuscitation efforts and post-resuscitation care.

Thanks to their swift actions, the patient not only survived but was discharged home neurologically intact, a remarkable outcome that underscores the impact of timely medical intervention.
