Stop the Bleed Training Scheduled for November 17 at Emmitsburg Branch Library
Frederick County residents are invited to participate in a vital life-saving training session hosted by the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for Injury Prevention & Policy. The “Stop the Bleed” training will take place on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Emmitsburg Branch Library. This program is aimed at individuals aged 13 and older, providing community members with essential skills to respond to emergency situations involving severe bleeding.
During this hands-on training, participants will learn three critical techniques that can help save a life before professional medical assistance arrives. The session will cover how to apply pressure to a wound using your hands, how to effectively pack a wound to control bleeding, and the proper method for applying a tourniquet. These skills are vital for anyone interested in being prepared for emergencies, whether at home, work, or in public spaces.
As an added incentive, all attendees will receive a complimentary Personal Stop the Bleed kit at the end of the class, valued at $45. This kit will allow participants to practice their newly acquired skills and have the necessary tools on hand should an emergency arise. The training reflects the commitment of Frederick County to enhance community safety and preparedness through education and awareness.
Interested individuals are encouraged to register for this free training session by visiting the Frederick County library calendar. Don’t miss this opportunity to equip yourself with life-saving knowledge and skills that could make a difference in an emergency situation.
