Shape the Golden Mile’s Future: City Releases GMSAP Steering Committee Meeting Schedule

The City of Frederick has announced the schedule for the upcoming Golden Mile Small Area Plan (GMSAP) Steering Committee meetings, aimed at shaping the future of the Golden Mile area. The meetings will take place on Wednesdays at 6:00 PM in Conference Room C of the Municipal Office Annex, located at 140 West Patrick Street. The first meeting is set for November 4, 2026, featuring a panel discussion focused on the context and scope of the project.

Subsequent meetings will cover a range of topics essential to the plan’s development. These include a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis on November 18, followed by discussions on vision and goals, development scenarios, transportation, public realm, built environment, and community culture through March 2027. The committee plans to present a rough draft of the plan on March 24, 2027, with a final draft presentation scheduled for April 14, 2027.

Community involvement is crucial, as the GMSAP Steering Committee will utilize feedback from these meetings to inform the plan’s update, ensuring it aligns with the needs and priorities of local residents. For those traveling from the Golden Mile, garage parking is available for a fee, and transit options are provided by the Golden Mile Connector and the Waverley via Prospect Boulevard Connector.

Residents requiring accommodations or interpretation services to participate in the meetings can contact Brandon Mark, Division Manager of Community Planning and Urban Design, at 301.600.1248 or via email. More information about the Golden Mile Small Area Plan can be found on the City of Frederick’s official website.
