The Great Frederick Fair is currently underway, and the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) is dedicated to ensuring the safety of all attendees throughout the event, which runs until September 26. With a visible presence on the fairgrounds, the FCSO aims to enhance security for both pedestrians and vehicles.
Deputies, along with Community Assistance Volunteers, the Traffic Unit, K-9 teams, and the Pro-Active Criminal Enforcement Team, are actively monitoring the fairgrounds. They are providing comprehensive interior security and conducting additional overnight patrols to maintain a safe environment for visitors.
For those attending the fair, the FCSO has implemented an emergency alert system. Individuals can text “GFFair” to 888777 to receive important safety notifications during the event. In case of emergencies, attendees are reminded to call 911, while non-emergency situations can be reported to 301-600-2071.
Visitors are encouraged to stop by the FCSO booth located behind the grandstands to engage with deputies, learn more about the office, and explore community engagement and recruitment opportunities. Additionally, FCSO, the Department of Fire and Rescue Services (DFRS), and the Department of Emergency Management (DEM) will be operating from a Mobile Command Post situated inside Gate 3, further enhancing coordination and response efforts during the fair.
