Frederick County Board of Health Liaisons Selected
The Frederick County Board of Health has appointed a new veterinarian liaison during their meeting on July 22, 2026. Dr. Susan Felter, VMD, will serve a three-year term, contributing her expertise to the board. This appointment is part of the Board’s commitment to incorporating diverse perspectives and specialized knowledge in public health matters.
In addition to Dr. Felter, the Board of Health has reappointed several continuing liaisons who bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to their respective roles. The liaisons include:
- Epidemiologist – René F. Najera, MPH, DrPH
- Chamber of Commerce member – Katie Silver, LCSW-C, BCD
- Mental Health Professional – Sara Singh, MD, DFAPA
- Nurse – Jennifer Cooper, DNP, RN, PHNA-BC, CNE
- Science-related background – Scott Stanley, PhD, LTC
All liaisons serve voluntarily, without voting privileges or compensation, for a term lasting from July 1 to June 30. Dr. Barbara Brookmyer, Health Officer for Frederick County, expressed appreciation for the willingness of these community members to serve. “Our diverse panel of liaisons brings community members with subject-matter expertise to our Board of Health. We are grateful for their willingness to serve our community in this way,” she stated.
