The City of Frederick has officially launched an update to the Golden Mile Small Area Plan (GMSAP) as part of its ongoing FOCUS Frederick initiative. This community engagement process invites residents and stakeholders to “Join the Story” and contribute to shaping the future of the Golden Mile area. The update is the first of several small area planning efforts aligned with the City’s 2020 Comprehensive Plan.
The GMSAP will consist of two key documents: the Golden Mile Small Area Profile and the Golden Mile Small Area Plan. The newly published Golden Mile Small Area Profile provides an overview of existing conditions within the plan area, establishing a baseline for understanding the community as it stands today. This foundational document aims to facilitate planning and implementation efforts while encouraging meaningful dialogue throughout the planning process.
Starting today, residents are encouraged to participate in the planning process by completing an online survey, available at https://arcg.is/q45zq2. The survey will remain open until September 18, 2026. Additionally, community members interested in a more active role in the development of the plan can apply to join the GMSAP Steering Committee by submitting an interest form by the same deadline.
For those seeking ongoing updates about the GMSAP, including the Golden Mile Small Area Profile and future workshops or public meetings, more information can be found on the City of Frederick’s official website at Golden Mile Small Area Plan | The City of Frederick, MD – Official Website. For further inquiries, residents may contact Brandon Mark, Division Manager of Community Planning and Urban Design, at bmark@cityoffrederickmd.gov or 301.600.1248.
