Mount Airy, MD – The Board of Supervisors of Elections has finalized the list of candidates for the upcoming special election for the office of Mayor, which will take place on November 17, 2026. The candidates running for the position, listed in alphabetical order, are Lynne P. Galletti, Clayton Gilbert, Karl Munder, and Tony Nathan.
The elected Mayor will be sworn in on November 24, 2026, and will serve the remainder of the term, which concludes in May 2029. Residents are reminded that polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the American Legion Gold Star Post 191 located at 801 Prospect Road.
Voter registration for this election will close on October 13, 2026. Residents of Mount Airy who are registered with the Carroll or Frederick County Board of Elections are automatically eligible to vote in this town election. For those wishing to vote absentee, a “Request for Absentee Ballot” form can be obtained from the Town’s website or by contacting Town Hall directly.
Completed absentee ballot requests must be submitted to Town Hall either in person or via the night dropbox, email, or mail. Absentee ballots will be available starting October 13, 2026.
