The incident took place around 9:45 a.m. when a man was walking on the sidewalk near the intersection of Green Street and North Church Street. The man reported that he was bitten by a dog, which he could not identify, as he was unable to obtain the owner’s information at the time.
The dog involved is described as a large Rottweiler-type with black and tan coloring. Witnesses indicated that the dog’s owners were a couple in their mid-20s, who were reportedly dressed in pajamas during the incident. The Health Department is urging anyone who may have information regarding the dog or its owner to contact Frederick County Animal Control at 301-600-1544.
In the event that the owner is located, Animal Control will need to verify the dog’s health status within ten days of the incident. This verification process is crucial, as it determines whether the victim will require expensive rabies treatment. Should the owner remain uncontacted, the bitten individual will be advised to seek medical treatment as a precautionary measure.
