Weekly Program Promotes School Readiness for Young Children

Frederick County, Maryland, is excited to announce a new weekly program at the Emmitsburg Branch Library aimed at nurturing the educational development of young children. Titled “School Skills,” this engaging initiative is designed for caregivers and their children, ages 3 to 5, to come together for fun, exploration, and learning. The program will take place every Monday starting October 19, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM.

The “School Skills” program focuses on building essential school readiness skills while also supporting social-emotional development. Through interactive activities and creative play, children will have the opportunity to develop foundational skills that prepare them for a successful transition into formal education. This initiative emphasizes the importance of early learning experiences and the role of caregivers in fostering a supportive and enriching environment.

Participants will meet in the Community Room at the Emmitsburg Branch Library, a welcoming space equipped for children’s activities. This program is free to attend and encourages parents and guardians to engage with their children in meaningful ways. By participating, families can connect with other community members while exploring educational resources available at the library.
