MOUNT AIRY, MD – The Town of Mount Airy has launched a new initiative aimed at promoting environmental sustainability by offering a free battery recycling drop-off program. This initiative is the result of a partnership with local business Critical Power, Inc. (CPI) and is designed to help residents responsibly dispose of used batteries, thereby preventing them from entering the waste stream.
Residents can drop off their old batteries at the Town Hall, located at 110 S. Main Street. The recycling program is available Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Accepted batteries include common household types such as AA, AAA, C, D, 9-volt, button batteries, and many rechargeable varieties. For a complete list of accepted battery types and any restrictions, residents can refer to the attached flyer provided by the town.
The battery recycling collection box is conveniently located in the vestibule of the Town Hall, making it easily accessible for community members. This initiative reflects the town’s commitment to sustainable practices and encourages residents to participate in efforts that contribute to a greener environment.
In addition to the battery recycling program, the Town of Mount Airy has announced various community events and volunteer opportunities. Residents are encouraged to stay informed about upcoming activities and initiatives to further engage with their community.
