Frederick County Government has announced the launch of the Farm2Food Accelerator Program, set to begin in January 2027. This 12-week initiative, presented by the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) Foundation, aims to support local farmers and food businesses in developing and expanding value-added food and beverage products utilizing locally sourced agricultural ingredients.
According to the county, the program is designed to equip participants with essential tools, knowledge, and connections necessary for transforming innovative ideas into successful marketable products. Katie Stevens, Director of the Office of Agriculture, stated that Farm2Food will create more opportunities for value-added agriculture, ultimately strengthening farm businesses and bolstering the future of agriculture in the region.
The Farm2Food program will connect participants with food industry experts from across the country, offering practical training on vital topics such as product development, food safety, marketing, pricing, and sales. Frederick County will host the first county-based cohort of this program, which is expected to foster collaborations among local agricultural businesses while drawing on national expertise.
Residents interested in learning more about the Farm2Food Accelerator Program are encouraged to attend a virtual information session scheduled for October 22 from 4 to 5 p.m. Advance registration is required to participate in this session.
