The Frederick County Office of Agriculture is set to open applications for its Fall 2026 Agriculture Innovation Grant Program on October 1, with a deadline for submissions on October 30 at 4 p.m. This initiative aims to support local agricultural businesses in enhancing their operations and fostering growth within the sector.
According to the county, the Agriculture Innovation Grant provides competitive funding opportunities designed for a variety of agricultural enterprises, including crop and livestock producers, value-added producers, seafood processors, timber product processors, and agricultural cooperatives. Grants of $5,000 or more can be used for essential improvements such as infrastructure upgrades, equipment purchases, research and development, and processing facilities.
Since its inception in 2021, the Agriculture Innovation Grant has awarded over $2 million to fund 88 agricultural projects throughout Frederick County. These investments, the county noted, have led to the creation of more than 300 jobs and have contributed to the long-term sustainability of the agricultural community.
Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee that will recommend grant recipients to the County Executive for final approval. Given the competitive nature of the program, applicants are encouraged to submit well-documented and complete proposals.
