Frederick, Maryland – Residents are invited to contribute their insights on the proposed design for the Hill Street Skate Park following a community meeting held on July 21. The City has released preliminary concept drawings and a walkthrough video created by Grindline Skateparks, Inc., which are now available for public review. The City is eager to gather feedback from the community before finalizing the design this fall.
The proposed design features an L-shaped street course alongside a large flow bowl, linked by a path affectionately referred to as the “old man loop” by local skaters. Unique elements of the design include a brick-stamped bank that pays tribute to Frederick’s historic brickwork, an homage to the iconic Jug Bridge arches, and a Maryland-shaped ledge inlay, showcasing local culture and history.

Feedback on the design can be submitted via email to Grindline’s Matt Fluegge at matt@grindline.com, with a deadline set for August 10. The City anticipates presenting a refined concept design later this fall, with construction of the revamped skate park projected to begin in spring 2027.
