FREDERICK, Md. – The Gran Fondo Maryland cycling event is set to take place in Frederick County on September 20, attracting an estimated 800 participants. While no roads will be closed for the event, the Frederick County Government is advising drivers to expect potential delays due to increased cyclist traffic throughout the day.
The event will kick off at 8:00 a.m. from Baker Park in the City of Frederick. Cyclists will be traversing several county roads, particularly along Yellow Springs Road, Indian Springs Road, Hamburg Road, Gambrill Park Road, Highland School Road, and Harp Hill Road. Additionally, routes will extend into the Frederick Watershed, Wolfsville, Sabillasville, and areas surrounding Mount Saint Mary’s University, Catoctin Mountain Park, and Gambrill State Park.
