The City of Frederick Announces 53 Recipients to be Funded Through ACCESS GRANTED – Frederick Pulse

The City of Frederick is pleased to announce 53 recipients of the ACCESS GRANTED grant program, an initiative designed to support and empower small minority, and women-owned businesses. This program, launched by the City of Frederick’s Department of Economic Development and the Office of the Mayor, aims to foster a supportive and inclusive business environment.

The ACCESS GRANTED program received an overwhelming response, with 365 applicants requesting more than $11 million in funding. Application eligibility required the businesses to be for-profit, in good standing with the state of Maryland, have a certificate of occupancy, and have no more than 25 full-time equivalent employees. Preference was given to businesses within The City of Frederick and small women and minority-owned businesses.

After a competitive selection process, 53 businesses have been awarded grants totaling $400,000.

“The Department of Economic Development is excited to see these funds help city businesses take their next steps towards growth and success,” said Richard Griffin, Director of Economic Development.  “This funding is significant for small businesses which often struggle for access to capital, and clearly their ultimate success moves Frederick toward a more equitable business landscape.”

“We are thrilled to fund many meaningful projects through the ‘ACCESS GRANTED’ program. This initiative not only helps level the playing field for minority and women-owned businesses but also represents a significant investment in the future of our local economy. By supporting these entrepreneurs, we are fostering a more inclusive and prosperous community for all,” said Mayor Michael O’Connor.

This funding is provided as part of a Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds program authorized by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA-SLFRF.) For more information about the ACCESS GRANTED program and future opportunities, please visit ACCESS GRANTED | Frederick Business, MD and www.businessinfrederick.com
