During the September 11 Board of Education of Frederick County meeting, FCPS Superintendent Dr. Cheryl L. Dyson shared the importance – and challenge – of providing equity-driven, evidence-informed instruction that benefits all students.
Recently, FCPS was recognized for being a global leader in providing instruction based on research from the fields of neuroscience in The 74, a nonprofit news organization covering education from early childhood through college and career. FCPS was also recently featured in the new book Powerful Classrooms by Patrice Bain, an educator, speaker and author who was a previous Illinois Teacher of the Year finalist and Fulbright Scholar.
“FCPS continues to gain international recognition for its innovative efforts in providing evidence-informed instruction that benefits all students,” Dyson said. “Our mission is to provide every student, every day with the supports they need to be successful in the classroom. A critical aspect of that approach is understanding how students best glean information.”
Several FCPS employees will present alongside global researchers at the second annual U.S. Festival of Education at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School on Saturday, September 28. The Festival of Education was founded by Wellington College in the United Kingdom as a way for educators to learn, grow and connect with other like-minded individuals in the field of education.
