Frederick Police Makes Arrest in Weapons Complaint Incident – Frederick Pulse

On 9/1/2024 at approximately 8:12 PM, officers from the Frederick Police Department responded to a weapons complaint in the 100 block of West Patrick Street in Frederick.

Upon arrival, officers located a victim who reported being confronted by an agitated individual while sitting in a parking lot. The suspect, later identified as Joshua Wayne Rippeon, 41, of Frederick, allegedly approached the victim’s vehicle, opened the driver’s side door, and began yelling. As the victim called 911, Rippeon reportedly returned to his own vehicle, retrieved a long gun, and brandished it before leaving the area.

During a subsequent canvass of the area, officers located a subject matching the suspect’s description in the 900 block of West Patrick Street. Upon investigation, an AR-15 style rifle was found in plain view in the trunk of the suspect’s vehicle.

Rippeon was arrested and transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center. He has been charged with the following offenses:

1. First Degree Assault2. Second Degree Assault3. Possession of a Firearm in the Commission of a Violent Crime4. Loaded Handgun on Person5. Handgun on Person6. Firearm Possession with Felony Conviction7. Illegal Possession of Ammunition8. Illegal Possession of a Regulated Firearm

The Frederick Police Department commends the quick action of the responding officers in apprehending the suspect and recovering the weapon.
