FREDERICK, MD — The Frederick County Health Department (FCHD) is proud to announce its observance of National Recovery Month this September. In celebration of the 37th annual Recovery Month, FCHD, in collaboration with the Frederick County Department of Social Services, will host the traditional Recovery Month Kickball Tournament on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Pinecliff Park, located at 8350 Pinecliff Park Road, Frederick, MD 21704. The event will run from 9 AM to 3 PM and is open to the entire community, providing an opportunity to celebrate the resilience of friends and family members in recovery.

The kickball tournament will feature several local organizations dedicated to recovery, including Focus Recovery Center, Mountain Manor – Sykesville, Weber Sober House, and Wells House, Inc., among others. Frederick County Executive Jessica Fitzwater will kick off the event by presenting the Recovery Month proclamation, emphasizing the importance of community support in recovery.

In addition to the tournament, attendees will hear inspiring testimonies from individuals with personal recovery experiences and have the chance to connect with various resource tables from community treatment partners. Recovery Month serves as a vital reminder of the progress made by those in recovery, paralleling the improvements seen in managing other health conditions.

This year’s theme focuses on three key areas: promoting holistic integration of mental wellbeing into recovery, recognizing multiple pathways to recovery, and advocating for community equity to ensure access to diverse treatment options. These themes underscore the importance of a comprehensive approach to recovery that respects individual journeys and promotes overall health.
