Frederick, Md. – Beginning August 31, Transit Services will be extending the operating hours for its Transit-Plus service, which provides essential curb-to-curb transportation for Frederick County residents aged 60 and older, as well as individuals with disabilities. The new hours will be from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, offering a significant increase in availability compared to the previous schedule of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

County Executive Jessica Fitzwater emphasized the importance of reliable transportation for older adults and people with disabilities. “Expanding Transit-Plus hours is about meeting people where they are and eliminating obstacles so everyone in Frederick County has the opportunity to thrive,” she stated. This change addresses the longstanding concerns of riders who have expressed difficulties in accessing early medical appointments, work, and evening activities due to the limited service hours.

Roman Steichen, Director of Transit Services, echoed these sentiments, stating, “This change reflects what we’ve consistently heard from our riders. Expanding service hours means more flexibility, more independence, and more opportunities for older adults and people with disabilities across Frederick County.” With the extended hours, residents will now have greater access to essential services within the community.
