FREDERICK, Md. – The Frederick County Division of Aging and Independence invites local residents to attend the Community Health Fair on August 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will take place at the New Market Grange No. 362, located at 14 South Alley, New Market, MD 21774. This fair aims to connect individuals to essential health resources and services in a convenient setting.

Joy Rowe, Department Head with Resource and Service Navigation, emphasized the importance of accessibility, stating, “We’re committed to making essential services easier to reach. By bringing support directly into neighborhoods, we’re ensuring residents can access what they need without barriers.” The health fair will provide a variety of free resources intended to support the community.

Attendees can expect to receive health screenings, including blood pressure checks and cognitive health assessments. The Lions Club 22W Mobile Screening Unit will also be present, offering vision and hearing screenings. In addition, application assistance for programs like Meals on Wheels, financial aid, and Medicare guidance will be available. The first 25 participants will receive a complimentary lunch and a bag of groceries, making this event a valuable opportunity for local families.

The Division of Aging and Independence will utilize its “Move Mobile,” a specially equipped vehicle designed to deliver health screenings and support services directly to the community. Community partners such as Frederick Health, Habitat for Humanity, and the Division of Energy and Environment will also be present to provide additional resources and information.

This health fair is free and open to the public. For further information or to request reasonable accommodations, residents are encouraged to contact Mindy Lohman-Hinz at least three business days prior to the event via email at MHinz@FrederickCountyMD.gov or by phone at 301-600-1234 (TDD/TTY users dial 711 for Maryland Relay Service).
