Shookstown Road Closure Rescheduled

FREDERICK, Md. – The Frederick County government has announced that Shookstown Road will be closed for approximately two weeks starting Monday, August 3, weather permitting. The closure will take place between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day and was initially scheduled to begin on July 6 but has since been rescheduled.

This road closure is necessary for the Frederick County Division of Highway Operations to complete vital culvert replacements. The closure will be executed in two distinct phases to minimize disruption to residents and traffic in the area.

Phase 1: From August 3 to 6, Shookstown Road will be closed at the intersection with Gambrill Park Road. Residents living on Shookstown Road will still have access to their homes via Bowers Road.

Phase 2: Scheduled for August 10 to 13, this phase will see Shookstown Road closed between the addresses of 5336 and 5410. Residents in this section will be able to access their homes from Gambrill Park Road and Bowers Road, depending on their location.

Signed detours will be put in place for both phases to guide drivers safely around the construction area. For further information, residents can contact Josh Vanleeuwen at 301-600-3455 or via email at JVanleeuwen@FrederickCountyMD.gov. Community members are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly during this period to ensure a smooth transition through the affected areas.
