FREDERICK, Md. – The boil water advisory for people living in the Sam Hill Estates and Manorwood communities has been lifted. Tests show that water in the service area is free of contamination and is safe to drink.
An advisory had been in place since a water main break along Sam Hill Drive in the afternoon of January 22. Crews from the Frederick County Division of Water and Sewer Utilities repaired the line that evening. The advisory remained in effect because when there is a loss of water pressure, opportunities exist for bacteria to enter the pipes. As of this afternoon, two rounds of tests have confirmed that the water is free of total coliform and E. coli, so the advisory is now lifted.
