FREDERICK COUNTYNOTICE OF A PROPOSED REALPROPERTY TAX RATE INCREASE

For the tax year beginning July 1, 2025, the County Council of Frederick County, Maryland, proposes to increase real property tax rates as shown below:

Frederick City from $1.0077 per $100 of assessed value to $1.0079 per $100 of assessed value

An in-person and virtual public hearing on the proposed real property tax rate increase will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Winchester Hall, First Floor Hearing Room, 12 E. Church Street, Frederick, Maryland.   

The hearing is open to the public, and public testimony is encouraged.

Individuals will be given an opportunity to be heard at the public hearing and provided three (3) minutes per speaker. 

The Council will also utilize a web portal that can be found at www.FrederickCountyMD.gov/CouncilMeetings which will allow the public to participate in Council meetings. Individuals can watch the live public hearing via FCG TV (online or Comcast channels 1072 and 19), send written comments to councilmembers@frederickcountymd.gov, or use the toll-free number listed below to listen, speak live or leave voice mail messages that will be aired during the hearing. The portal also uses built-in translation services so those for whom English is not their native language can leave comments or read responses in more than 100 languages.  

The public is reminded that all comments, both written and oral, will be made part of the public record.  Voice mail messages and callers should include your name and address at the beginning of your comment.  The toll-free number is 855-925-2801, provide the meeting code 8365, and press *2 to leave a voice mail message or press *3 to enter a muted queue to speak live during the public comment portion of the meeting.  Please continue to stay tuned as the Council continues to try and meet the needs of all of its residents during these challenging times.
