Frederick Police Arrest New Jersey Man for Multiple Acts of Vandalism Downtown – Frederick Pulse

On February 3, 2025, officers responded to reports of graffiti at several locations along N. Market Street, affecting both private businesses and city property. The vandalism, consisting of pink paint markings, was discovered on trash cans, an electrical box, a parking meter, and the exterior walls of a local business.

Through an investigation that included surveillance footage, officers observed a male suspect using a paint pen to deface property in the 300 block of N. Market Street. Additional footage led investigators to an Airbnb in the 100 block of N. Market Street, where the suspect had stayed overnight.

Further investigation identified the suspect as Daniel K. Simmons, 35, of New Jersey. Deputies with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office later located Simmons’ vehicle at a business in Urbana. Frederick Police officers responded to the location and took Simmons into custody. He was then transported by Frederick Police officers to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with multiple counts of malicious destruction of property. Due to his out-of-state residency, he was taken to central booking rather than being issued a criminal citation.

The Frederick Police Department has documented the damages and provided case information to the City of Frederick Department of Public Works for cleanup and restoration of affected city property.
