Frederick County Public Schools Partnering with United Way of Frederick County for Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive – Frederick Pulse

Each year, Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) partners with United Way of Frederick County, local businesses, and the community to collect and distribute school supply donations, ensuring that every student in Frederick County starts the school year with the tools and supplies they need to learn. The annual Stuff the Bus community collection drive effort began on Monday, June 17 and will conclude on Tuesday, July 30 .

The public is encouraged to visit any of the participating businesses to drop off new, unused school supplies in collection bins now through July 30. For a list of the 2024 participating businesses and to see lists of the most-needed items, visit: http://www.uwfrederick.org/stuffthebus . The public can also contribute virtually by visiting: https://tinyurl.com/StuffTheBus2024 . 100% of online monetary contributions will be used to support FCPS students. The last day to donate to the virtual drive is July 12.

New for City of Frederick Schools this year, the Stuff the Bus and Beyond Shelter’s Backpacks for Bright Futures programs will distribute school supplies directly to city feeder schools. Volunteers will pack backpacks with supplies, which will be given to these schools. School staff will then distribute these backpacks to students from ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households. This change aims to ensure fairer distribution of supplies and strengthen relationships between students, parents, and school staff. Schools outside the City of Frederick will continue to receive supplies as they have in previous years.

FCPS is continuously impressed by the annual show of support from community partners for the Stuff the Bus school supply drive to help make Stuff the Bus a huge success for FCPS students in ALICE households.
