Graduation Rate: Overall, the four-year adjusted cohort graduation rate for the Class of 2024 increased by more than 1% to 94.3%. More than 3,400 diplomas were earned from FCPS high school students in 2024.
The FCPS graduation rate is almost seven percentage points higher than the state’s overall graduation rate, ranking it first again among districts with more than 30,000 students. It is also consistently above the national average.
“Every student who walks across the graduation stage represents the dedication of their families, our educators, and community,” FCPS Superintendent Dr. Cheryl L. Dyson said. “We remain committed to ensuring all students have the resources and support needed to reach this milestone and succeed beyond it.”
From the graduating Class of 2023 to the Class of 2024, the four-year adjusted graduation rate improved for several student groups, including a 6% increase for students with disabilities, a 4% increase for Hispanic/Latino students, a 3.5% increase for multilingual (ML) students, and 2.2% increases for students who have completed the ML program prior to graduation and students receiving Free and Reduced Meals.
Graduation is the culmination of the FCPS Learning Journey, and the goal is for all students to be college and career ready before graduation.
Dropout Rate: Overall, the four-year adjusted dropout rate for the Class of 2024 declined by over 1% to 2.2%. FCPS continues to have one of the lowest dropout rates in the state. The state dropout rate is 8.3%.
Cohort graduation and dropout rates follow a set group of students from freshman year through their senior year.
