Five Frederick County Public Schools students will serve as pages for the 2025 legislative session of the Maryland General Assembly.
They are:
- Suhaan Pastakia from Urbana High
- Alek Tekeyan from Tuscarora High
- Emily Kerns from Oakdale High
- Rebecca Ege from Gov. Thomas Johnson High
- Aisiri Prasad from Linganore High
Additionally, Logan Bohn, from Middletown High, was selected as an alternate.
“All students selected have shown a commitment to academic and personal excellence, along with a commitment to their communities,” FCPS Superintendent Dr. Cheryl L. Dyson said. “I am appreciative that they will have the opportunity to support the upcoming General Assembly.”
Serving as a legislative page is a unique opportunity for students to learn about the legislative process in Maryland.
Since 1970, Maryland’s high school seniors have learned about the legislative process by serving as student pages during the annual Maryland General Assembly.
The program was started by then house Speaker Thomas Hunter Lowe and approved by the Maryland State Board of Education.
Each year, 105 pages and 36 alternates are selected from across Maryland to represent their schools and counties. Students must be seniors who are at least 16 years old.
The General Assembly will convene on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
