Yesterday afternoon, a tractor-trailer accident caused significant damage to the guardrail just south of Treatment Plant Road on Monocacy Boulevard. The incident resulted in approximately 400 feet of guardrail damage, the destruction of one streetlight, and a spill of around 100 gallons of fuel, which was successfully contained to the roadway.
In response, Department of Public Works (DPW) staff have implemented a Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plan to maintain a single northbound lane over approximately 1000 feet until the guardrail can be repaired. Cleanup of debris and replacement of the streetlight are scheduled for today. DPW is currently coordinating with the guardrail contractor to finalize the repair schedule.
The affected area includes the right lane of northbound Monocacy Boulevard, extending from east of Schifferstadt Boulevard to just north of Treatment Plant Road. The left northbound lane and both southbound lanes remain open. The lane closure is expected to remain in place through Thursday.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during this time.
