City leaders Mayor Michael O’Connor, Council President Katie Nash, and Manager of Opportunity and Transformation Ericka Rohrbaugh have been appointed to serve on various National League of Cities (NLC) Federal Advocacy Committees.
All three appointments were announced by NLC President Steve Patterson, Mayor of Athens, Ohio.
Mayor O’Connor, Mayor of Frederick, Maryland, has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2025 Human Development Federal Advocacy Committee. Mayor, O’Connor was elected to a one-year term and will provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on workforce development, education, early childhood, public health, mental health, substance use, veterans, seniors, immigration and more.
“Having such a strong presence on the National League of Cities’ federal advocacy committee is an honor and of incredible importance,” Mayor O’Connor said. “As a city, we are proud to have representation from three City officials actively working to elevate the needs and voices of cities like Frederick. These committees are crucial in ensuring that local governments have a seat at the table in national discussions. I look forward to collaborating with fellow committee members and supporting efforts that enhance opportunities for our communities. This partnership between local and federal leaders is vital for advancing the well-being of our residents and all Americans.”
Council President Nash has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2025 Community and Economic Development Federal Advocacy Committee. She will serve a one-year term and provide strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on housing, community development, and economic opportunity.
“I am excited to be a part of the National League of Cities Community and Economic Development Committee and use our position for national level advocacy for the City of Frederick,” Council President Nash said. “This opportunity allows us to directly influence policies that impact our local businesses, residents, and economic growth. By working alongside other city leaders, we can bring fresh perspectives to the table and ensure that the needs of places like Frederick are considered in national discussions on community development, affordable housing, and economic sustainability.”
As members of their respective committees, Mayor O’Connor and Council President Nash will play key roles in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocating on behalf of America’s cities, towns, and villages before Congress, with the administration, and at home in Frederick, MD.
Ericka Rohrbaugh, Manager of Opportunity and Transformation for the City of Frederick, has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2025 Small Cities Council. Ericka was elected to a one-year term to develop and guide programs among local elected officials from similar communities.
As a member of NLC’s Small Cities Council, Rohrbaugh will play a key role among a diverse group of local leaders to encourage collaboration, networking and the development of resources and programs beneficial to communities that share demographics, size or location that can be replicated across the country.
“Serving on the small cities council is an excellent opportunity for The City of Frederick to continue to build on the momentum we built by participating in The Good Jobs Great Cities cohort,” she said. “I’m excited to continue learning best practices in workforce development and how we can enhance the lives of our residents.”
