Frederick County agricultural businesses seeking to expand or diversify their operations are invited to apply for funding through the County’s renowned Agriculture Innovation Grant Program. Applications for the Spring 2025 cycle will close on Monday, March 31 at 4:00 p.m.

“The Agriculture Innovation Grants have proven to be transformative for many farming operations in Frederick County,” said Katie Stevens, Director of the Office of Agriculture. “By supporting diversification and the launch of new projects, we are ensuring the continued prosperity and preservation of our community’s agricultural heritage.”

Since its inception in 2021, the Agriculture Innovation Grant Program has supported projects that strengthen the economic viability of the local agricultural industry. To date, the program has awarded more than $1,600,000 to 70 agriculture projects in Frederick County, which has contributed to the creation of more than 300 jobs.

Grants of $5,000 or more are available biannually to crop and livestock producers, value-added producers, agricultural cooperatives, seafood processors, and both primary and secondary timber products processors. These funds can be utilized for research and development, production buildings, major fixtures, or processing facilities. Grants are highly competitive. A review committee evaluates all applications based on established metrics and recommends awards to the County Executive.
