Mayor Michael O’Connor has declared a Snow Emergency for the City of Frederick, effective 8 p.m., Sunday, January 5, 2025, in anticipation of forecasted winter weather. The Snow Emergency is designed to ensure public safety and effective snow removal during the storm.
Snow Emergency Plan Details:
Start Time: The Snow Emergency begins at 8 p.m., Sunday, January 5, 2025.Parking Restrictions: Vehicles must be removed from Snow Emergency Routes by 10 p.m. to allow for plowing operations. Parking restrictions on Snow Emergency Routes will be strictly enforced, and vehicles will be towed at the owner’s expense.Free Parking: Downtown City Parking Garages will open for free off-street parking at 8 p.m. on January 5. Vehicles must be removed by 8 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
Closures:
All City offices and Parks and Recreation facilities, including Talley Rec Center, will be closed Monday, January 6, 2025.The Food Bank and Health Center will also be closed Monday.
Community Services:
The Community Table will operate as a warming shelter from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Monday, January 6.The Alan P. Linton Emergency Shelter will open at 6:30 p.m. to provide nighttime accommodations.
Snow Removal Priorities:
Plowing will focus first on Snow Emergency Routes, which will be maintained continuously until snowfall slows. Secondary and neighborhood roads will be addressed afterward.The City has over 330 miles of travel lanes to clear and appreciates the public’s patience during this process.
