The City of Frederick’s City Council voted Tuesday night on the selection of leadership for the new City Council. Councilmember Katie Nash was elected as Council President, and Councilmember Derek Shackelford was elected as Council Vice President. The new leadership team will work collaboratively to advance the legislative priorities of the City and ensure an efficient, responsive government that serves all Frederick residents.
Council President Nash reflected on this moment of transition for the City Council, saying, “I’m proud to share this historic moment with my colleagues and am excited to get started working in this new role as we build the legislative branch of our City government.”
Council Vice President Shackelford also shared his enthusiasm for this new opportunity, stating, “I am honored to be selected by my colleagues to serve as City Council Vice President alongside Council President Katie Nash. As this transition takes place, I look forward to working together for an efficient government that will serve all our residents.”
