The City of Frederick has transitioned its parade, walk, and race application process to an online platform through OpenGov, streamlining the way event organizers can submit their applications. This new system allows individuals planning events on public property or within the public right of way to handle everything from application submission to fee payment and official updates in one centralized location.
According to the City of Frederick’s Department of Parks and Recreation, once an application is submitted, all official communication regarding the event will be conducted through the applicant’s OpenGov account. The department has cautioned organizers to be vigilant against potential phishing attempts, advising that they should not respond to emails claiming to be from City staff unless they originate from OpenGov notifications. Organizers who receive suspicious messages are encouraged to contact Parks and Recreation at 301-600-1173 for verification.
Event organizers can find detailed information on the application process, including fees, approved route maps, insurance requirements, and traffic control stipulations, on the Parades, Walks, and Races page of the City’s website. For any inquiries regarding the new online application process, residents can reach out to Sarah Stamper, Office Manager of Parks and Recreation, at 301-600-1173 or via email at sstamper@cityoffrederickmd.gov.
