Curious Iguana presents: Michael Buckley

Frederick County residents are invited to an engaging evening with acclaimed author Michael Buckley at the C. Burr Artz Public Library on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 6 PM to 7 PM. Buckley will discuss his latest novel, The Weirdies Get Weirder, in a conversation moderated by graphic novelist Gabbie Benda. The event will conclude with a question-and-answer session followed by a book signing, where attendees will have the opportunity to purchase copies of the book.

The Weirdies Get Weirder is a sequel to the bestselling The Weirdies and continues the misadventures of the Weirdie triplets-Barnacle, Melancholy, and Garlic. The story unfolds with the chaotic return of the triplets’ parents from the dead, forcing them to seek out a hidden fortune that their bank-robbing grandfather left behind in Deadeye Manor. The triplets face numerous challenges as they navigate the mansion, now occupied by criminals, all while yearning to reunite with their adoptive mother, Miss Emily.

Michael Buckley, a New York Times bestselling author known for his works such as The Sisters Grimm and the NERDS series, brings a wealth of experience to the event. He is also recognized for his role as cocreator and writer for Cartoon Network’s Robotomy. Buckley resides in New York City and has a background in crafting engaging narratives for young readers.

Joining Buckley will be Gabbie Benda, an illustrator and graphic novelist from Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Benda recently published her debut book, Serendipity, and has spent over a decade as a camp counselor and art teacher, bringing joy to children through her vibrant illustrations and storytelling.

For those interested in attending, the library encourages guests to reach out for any accessibility requests at least two weeks prior to the event by emailing events@curiousiguana.com.
