Frederick County Announces Open Houses on New Livable Frederick Plans – Frederick Pulse

FREDERICK, Md. – The public is invited to attend open houses to help shape the future of Frederick County through three new Livable Frederick plans. These meetings will feature interactive activities designed to engage the community and gather input on the Housing Element, the Historic Preservation Plan, and the Green Infrastructure Plan. In this early, information-gathering stage, the public can learn about the plans’ objectives and provide feedback to staff.

“Planning for more affordable housing, historic preservation, and green infrastructure is critical to maintaining the high quality of life that we enjoy in Frederick County,” said County Executive Jessica Fitzwater. “These upcoming open houses will provide another opportunity for the public to contribute ideas and help shape the future of our community.”

The upcoming open houses will feature activities grouped into three main categories related to the new plans: Shelter, Culture, and Nature. Shelter activities are aimed at gathering ideas for housing and mapping strategies. Culture activities will focus on identifying and preserving historical events, places, and traditions. Nature activities are designed to enhance the County’s green infrastructure. Attendees may participate in any or all of the activities.

Several open houses have been scheduled. The content of each open house will be identical, so attendees only need to participate in one session to stay informed and offer comments. All meetings will be held from 6 – 8 p.m.

The aim is to create a comprehensive and sustainable plan that reflects the community’s needs. By engaging with the public through open houses and interactive activities, Livable Frederick seeks to incorporate diverse perspectives and ideas into the development of these plans.
